Synthesis and Crystal Structure of the Complex [Fe_2(μ-O)(salphen)_2]·3H_2O

A Binuclear iron(Ⅲ) complex [Fe2(μ-O)(salphen)2]·3H2O was obtained by self-assembly of ligand N,N'-bis(salicylaldehyde)-o-phenylenediamine(H2salphen) with FeCl3·6H2O.The structure of the complex was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis.The crystal is triclinic with space group P1 and crystal parameters of a=1.3257(5) nm,b=1.3311(8) nm,c= 1.3921(5) nm,α=114.175(8)°,β=118.393(5)°,γ=91.537(8)°,V=1.8949(15) nm3,Dc=1.420 Mg·m-3,Z=2,F(000)=836,GooF=0.931,R1=0.0967,ωR2=0.2464.There exist one coordination modes for the two iron(Ⅲ) ions.The iron(Ⅲ) ions are five-coordinated with two oxygen atoms,two nitrogen atoms from one salphen ion and one μ-oxo ion,with a distorted square-pyramid coordination geometry.
