Probabilistic analysis and reliability assessment for foundation settlement

In this paper, the probabilistic methods of foundation settlement analysis and reliability assessment for the settlement problem are systematically reviewed, in which the stochastic finite element method used in the probabilistic settlement is emphasized. Moreover, the random field properties of soil profile inherited in the soil settlement problem is also studied. The future development and possible improvement are briefly discussed.
