Finite element analysis of composite soil nailing for excavation support

SONG Er-xiang , QIU Yue (Dept. of Civil Engineering Tsinghua University Beijing 100084, China)
 The finite element analysis of composite soil nailing was discussed. Emphasis was laid on the method for simulating staged construction the choice of soil models and the corresponding soilmodel parameters in connection with the analysis of excavation problems. Then thorough analyses for a specific type of composite soil nailing for excavation support, i.e. soil nailing combined with mixed cement-soil piles were carried out and some influence factors were investigated. Based on the analyses suggestions were made with regard to the design of such type of composite soil nailing.
