Fed-Batch Fermentation to Improve the Yield of Natamycin

HE Yan-ling, WU Jian-guo, LU Fu-ping, DU Lian-xiang ( Tianjin University Of Light Industry, Tianjin300222)  
The method for improving the yield of natamycin by fed-batch fermentation was studied. In 5 L auto-fer-mentator, 40 g/Lglucose was added initially, followed by pulsed feeding when reducing glucose which was a control factor decreased below 2% , glucose concentration was maintained about 20 g/L. The total amount of feeding glucose was 20-25 g/L. Under the optimum conditions of fed-batch fermentation, the yield of natamycin was improved from 1.5 g/L to 2.3 g/L, the rate of improvement was 35% .
