The influence of Acorus tatarinowii Schott on level of 5-hydroxytryptamine in brain

Objective:To observe the effect of Acorus tatarinowii Schott on level of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in mice's brain.Methods:The levels of 5-HT in mice's brain were determined after po with different components of Acorus tatarinowii Schott by high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection (HPLC-ECD), and the Acorus tatarinowii Schott's effect on the levels of 5-HT was studied.Results:The level of 5-HT in mice's brain after administration of naphtha were increased significantly compared to blank group(P0.05, P0.01, P0.01).Conclusion:Acorus tatarinowii Schott could increase the content of 5-HT,and it was possible to promote the open of blood-brain barrier.
