The Progress of Taste Masking Techniques in Oral Solid Dosage Forms

The mechanism of practical techniques for taste masking and the most interesting features of each approach were reviewed.The different taste masking evaluation methodologies were also introduced briefly.The clinical applications of some orally administered drugs are limited by their unpleasant tastes.Many new pharmaceutical techniques,such as spouted bed coating,powder coating and salting out taste masking,are recently applied to prevent active pharmaceutical ingredients from the bitter and unpleasant taste based on traditional techniques,for example using correctant or paralyser.
