The Particularity of China's Ethnic Education and the Relevant Support in Policy

China is a country of varied ethnic peoples and cultures and it has been practicing a preferential policy of education in favor of people in ethnic regions or the ethnic people.The particularity of ethnic education is determined by the special features of ethnic people and ethnic regions which are subject to the influences of nature,history,society and culture.In terms of the First National Conference for Ethnic Education,the Fifth National Conference for Ethnic Education,and the newly-established "National Medium and Long-Term Educational Reform and Development Program",China's policy of ethnic education has undergone special changes with typical features.On the one hand,the policy requires the adherence to the Marxist ideas of motherland,ethnicity and religion.Further,it is requested that the ethnic policy of the CPC and the state should be integrated with the educational policy of the CPC and the state,highlighting and supporting ethnic education.On the other hand,educational policy must be made according to the specific situation of ethnic regions.In the new historical period,the development of ethnic education,on the basis of the successful experiences in policy implementations,must be oriented to the issues of language and culture in the schools of ethnic regions so that ethnic education will achieve the radical change from quantity-oriented education to quality-oriented education.
