Study & Manufacture of Protective Articles for Radio-intervention Operators

Objective]The objective of this study is to provide the most eligible protective articles for interventional radiology. [Methods]The method and procedures included design of the interventional protective installations, which were worked out by following the principle of optimization and the mechanism of shielding protection and in accordance with the features of the X - ray machines(500 mA, made in China); simulation of interventional conditions;measurement of the scatter radiation upon the main parts of the interventional operators under various protective status;and design of individual protective articles which should also meet the features of safety, lightness and comfortableness. [Results]As a result, an interventional protective installation (composed of 4 parts) and 4 individual protective articles were made. [Conclusions]It is concluded that the concerted application of these protective installation and articles could ensure more ideal protective effect, reduce 60% of the load, and open up a broad market for the prefecture-level and the county-level hospitals where China-made X-ray machines were popularly applied.
