Clinical Characteristics and Risk Factors of Diabetic Foot Infection

Objective To investigate clinical characteristics of diabetic foot infection(DFI)and explore its risk factors.Methods A retrospective analysis was used to analysis 178 diabetic foot patients admitted to a hospital from Jan.2014 to Dec.2016.Wagner classification was conducted to divide patients into light group and severe group.General situation and clinical characteristics of the two groups were compared and analyzed.The elbow venous blood of patients was collected and inflammatory factors were examined.Wound secretions were collected for pathogenic identification.Results Blood pressure,FBG,TG,TC,HbAlc and C peptide levels in severe group were higher than those in light group(P0.05).HDL-C in severe group was lower than that in light group(P0.05),while LDL-C was higher than that in the light group(P0.05).The levels of inflammatory factors such as PCT,CRP,IL-6 and TNF-a in the two groups increased with the increase of Wagner grade(P0.05).The main pathogenic bacteria of DFI patients were Staphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli.Conclusion The occurrence of DFI is related to increased levels of PCT,CRP,IL-6 and TNF-α,and the pathogenic bacteria in DFI patients vary in different degrees of infection.
