Effect of Peiminine on Aquaporins of Lunl Injury in Rats

Objective To study the effect of Peiminine on AQP- 1 and AQP- 5 against radiation- induced lung injury in rats and clarify its mechanism of treatment. Methods A total of 46 SD healthy rats were randomly assigned into 4 groups,including the comparison group,the radiation group,the dexamethaane group and the Peiminine group. The model in rats was established by irradiating whole rats chest with the dose of 15 Gy /3F of 6 MV X- rays. The activities of AQP- 1 and AQP- 5 in lung tissues were examined by immunoradiometric. AQP- 1,AQP- 5 expressions in lung tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry and RT- PCR. Results The results in our study indicated that peiminine had beneficial effects to protect against radiation- induced lung injury in rats. The attenuation of pulmonary fibrosis by peiminine was associated with a increasing in the levels of AQP- 1,AQP- 5,regulation of AQP- 1,AQP- 5 mRNA expression in lung tissue. Conclusion Our results thus provide evidence that peiminine have therapeutic potential for the treatment pulmonary fibrosis.
