EFFECT OF VA-MYCORRHIZAL INFECTION ON GROWTH AND NUTRIENT UPTAKE OF RED CLOVER AT DIFFERENT Zn SUPPLY LEVELS

The effect of VA-mycorrhizal infection on the growth and nutrient uptake of red clover was investigated at three different Zn levels. The phots grew in pots with sandy soil which was divided into three compartments by 30 μm nylon nets: a central one for root growth and two outer ones for mycorrhiza hyphal growth. w(Zn )was applied at three levels(0,600, 1 200 mg/kg) in the central compartment inoculated or uninocutated with VAM fungus (G. mosseae ), respectively. The results showed that mycorrhizal infection was not inhibited at the all three Zn levels used,which indicated that the applied fungus had tolerance to Zn pollution. The phosphorus nutrition of red clover was significantly improved by the mycorrhizal infection.Phosphorus concentration in mycorrhizal plants was doubled compared with that of non-mycorrhizal ones,and the shoot growth was thus increased significantly. The results also showed that mycorrhizal infection had different effects on micronutrients,After mycorrhizal infection,copper concentration was increased, Fe decreased and Mn,Zn unchanged in plant shoots.
