Effects of Genotype, Sowing Date and Planting Density on Grain Filling and Yiel of Wheat Varieties with Different Ears Forming Characteristics

Using split-split plot design, the effects of genotype, sowing date and planting density on grain filling and yield of wheat varieties with different ears forming characteristics were studied. Linyou 145, Linyou 2069 and Linyou 2018 belong to the varieties whose tiller and mother-stem are equally important in forming ears, and Linfen 138 and Linfen 139 to those whose mother-stem ears are more important in forming ears. The results showed that at the same yield level, acting force of the three controllable factors on yield of wheat was: sowing dategenotypeseeding density. The optimal sowing date of Linyou 145 and 2018 was October 3, and the suitable planting densities were 318.16×103 seedlings hm-2 and 313.77×103 seedlings hm-2, respectively, while grain yields were 7 573.43 kg hm-2 and 8 202.52 kg hm-2, respectively. The optimal sowing date of Linfen 138 was October 1, and the suitable planting density was 375.00×103 seedlings hm-2, while grain yield was 8 390.34 kg hm-2. Under the experimental conditions, the dynamic change in kernel weight with days after anthesis fitted third-order concave curve and like "S" shape as "slow-fast-slow". With the sowing date postponed, the highest 1 000-kernel weight (W), maximal filling rate (Rmax), average filling rate (R) and initial growth potential (C0) were increased, filling duration period (S) and effective duration period (Se) were extended, and yield was increased at first, and then decreased. Wheat planting density had greater effect on the filling rate than duration period. Correlation analysis showed that the filling rate had significantly positive correlation with 1 000-kernel weight. There was significant correlation between Se and 1 000-kernel weight of Linyou 145, but no significant correlation of Linyou 2018. There was difference in sensitivity to sowing date and planting density. Linfen 138 was more sensitive than Linyou 2018 and Linyou 145 to sowing date, and Linyou 2018 and Linyou 145 were more sensitive than Linfen 138 to planting density.
