OBJECTIVE: To study the effects of the aqueous extractive from Flueggea virosa(Roxb.ex Willd.) voigt.on serological markers in rats with hepatic fibrosis(HF).METHODS: HF model was established in rats by means of subcutaneous injection with CCl4.With Colchicines(Col.) used as positive control, the effects of the aqueous extractive from Flueggea virosa(Roxb.ex Willd.) voigt.on serological markers such as ALT,AST,TP,ALB,GLB(Globulin),hyaluronic acid(HA),laminin(LN),precollagen Ⅲ(PCⅢ) were observed.RESULTS: Serum contents of ALT and AST in HF rats were down-regulated whereas serum content of ALB was up-regulated by Flueggea virosa(Roxb.ex Willd.) voigt.,and serum contents of HA,LN and PCⅢ were effectively reduced by Flueggea virosa(Roxb.ex Willd.) voigt.,with high-dose group showing better overall efficacy than in the low-dose group.CONCLUSION: Flueggea virosa(Roxb.ex Willd.) voigt.has the function of protecting liver, reducing enzyme level, improving proteolipid and inhibiting hepatic fibrosis in HF rats and its actions remains to be studied further.
