THE EFFECT OF CHILLING TEMPERATURE ON RESPIRATION,ELECTROLYE LEAKAGE AND COLD-STORAGE LIFE IN LITCHI FRUITS

There is no climateric rise in Litchi fruits after harvest. Chilling can inhibit the respiration of the fruits, but the respiration rate given by the fruits during the course of time after transferring them to warm from cold gradually increases and it may show their sensitiveties to chilling. The differences in respiration, membrane permeabillity and fruit hardiness to cold exists in varieties of Litchi fruits. And the tissue leakage of fruit-peel is able to be used as a indicator to test the damaged fruit in varying extents at different temperature or in varie-ties.
