Measurement of Cold Tolerance Based on REC and the Logistic Equation in Camellia hiemalis‘Shishi Gashira’

Regarding the relative electric conductivity(REC)as a physiological indicator for the cold tolerance in leaves of Camellia hiemalis‘Shishi Gashira’, the curves of REC against different treatment of temperatures and treatment periods were represented using Logistic equation. The results showed that REC increased as a S-curves with the decreased of temperature when the treatment time was longer than six hours. According to these S-shaped curves and the Logistic equation, we could calculate the semilethal temperature(LT 50). The LT 50 of C. hiemalis‘Shishi Gashira’was between -12.5℃ and -14℃, which may be an important index of cold tolerance in C. hiemalis.
