Sugar Unloading Mechanisms in the Developing Apple Fruit

On the basis of the foundation of in vivo sugar unloading system “Unloading trap technique”,sugar unloading mechanisms were studied in developing apple fruit of‘Golden Delicious’( Malus domestica Borkh).Sugar unloading was restricted by 1mmol/L PCMBS,1mmol/L DNP,1mmol/L EB and 800mmol/L Betaine and was enhanced by 10 -5 mol/L ABA,5mmol/L EGTA and 50mmol/L NO - 3 in the stage of sugar instant accumulation of the developing apple fruit.The results indicated that there are symplastic and apoplastic pathways during sugar unloading of the deve loping apple fruit;there are sugar carriers(transporters)on the plasmalemma of apple fruit fresh cells;and the plasmalemma and tonoplast transport sugar are active processes which need energy.
