EFFECT OF LYCIUM BARBARUM POLYSACCHARIDE-4 ON MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE INDUCED OBESITY IN MICE

Objective: To investigate the effect of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide 4 (LBP 4) on monosodium glutamate induced obesity in mice. Methods: LBP 4 was applied to monosodium glutamate induced obese male mice at a dose of 20?40 and 60 mg·kg -1 ·d -1 for 30 days, respectively. The body weight, Lee's index, fat index, lipids in serum, the volume of fat cells and the content of acetyl CoA carboxylase (Acc) mRNA in fat tissue were determined. Results: LBP 4 could decrease body weight, Lee's index, fat index, lipid in serum and the volume of fat cells, and increase the content of Acc mRNA in fat tissue. Conclusion: LBP 4 can adjust the gene expression of Acc in fat tissue of male mice and can decrease fat content in monosodium glutamate induced obese male mice.
