STUDY ON THE ANEMIA STATUS OF CHINESE POPULATION

Objective:To analyze the anemia status of Chinese population according to the data of China Nutrition and Health Survey in 2002. Method: Blood hemoglobin of 207 077 subjects was determined by cyanmethemoglobin method recommended by ICSH and the difference of anemia prevalence in various areas was analyzed by different gender and age groups. Results:In 2002, the anemia prevalence of Chinese population was 20.1% (15.8% of male, 23.3% of female). The anemia prevalence was 18.2% (13.4% of male and 21.5% of female) in urban and 20.8% (16.7% of male and 24.0% of female) in rural. Comparison of anemia prevalence of population among six type areas showed anemia prevalence in big cities was lowest, and in type Ⅲ rural was highest.
