Experimental Study on Combustion Characteristics of Fire in High-altitude Railway Tunnels

Full-scale model tests were conducted in the slope of Guanjiao Tunnel(32.645 km),which is a high-altitude super-long railway tunnel,to research the burning characteristics of high-altitude tunnel fire.The distribution of the temperature and smoke under different fire-scale conditions inside the tunnel was measured.Analysis on the experimental results showed that temperature at the tunnel vault was higher than temperature near the tunnel centerline;temperature near the fire was highest;with the distance to the fire increasing,temperature decreased;longitudinal wind had an important influence on smoke distribution,temperature at downstream was higher than that at upstream.Finally,some recommendations to the fire disaster-relief design of the high-altitude tunnel were put forward according to the analysis of test results.
