Clearance of substance P(SP) and vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP) by lung during SMAO shock in rabbit

An indicator dilution method was used to measuxe the clearance of ̄(125)I-SP and  ̄(125)-I-VIP when they once passed through the lung in SMAO shock mb-bits. In the early stage of shock the clearance of SP by lung (35.01± 0.64%,n=6)washigher than shamopemted control (22.96± 2.22%,n=7) , P0.e1; but no difference was ob-served in the clearance of VIP by lung between SMAO shock group (37.89± 2.30%,n=5)and control group(38.50±2.29%, n=5).This study showed that both SP and VIPcan be cleared by rabbit lung.The increased clearance of SP during early stage ofSMAO shock may have some effect for delaying the blood pressure declining.
