Cellular compatibility of nano-hydroapatite crystals and polyamide composite

Objective To evaluate the cellular compatibility of nano-hydroapatite crystals and polyamide composite (n-HA/PA66). Methods According to the criteria for evaluation of cellular trials recommended in GB/T16886.5-1997-ISO10993-5:1992, the morphological observation of L929 cells was performed and the pictures were taken after co-culture with extract of n-HA/PA66 and direct contact with n-HA/PA66 at intervals of 24 h, 48 h and 72 h. Using the MTT methods, the light absorption value of every hole under 492 nm with enzyme linked immunity instrument was determined after contact of n-HA/PA66 extract with L929 cells and direct contact with n-HA/PA66 at intervals of 1 d, 2 d, 4 d, and 7 d. Then the relative proliferation rate of cells were calculated and evaluated by 6 degree tests for cytotoxicity. Results The growth and proliferation of cultured cells were not significantly inhibited in every composite group and the negative group(P 0.05). There was a significant difference between every composite group and the positive group(P 0.05), indicating good cell biocompatibility. The cellular toxicity ranged from 0 to 1 degree. Conclusion n-HA/PA66 has good cellular compatibility in vitro.
