Investigation of the hygiene quality of direct drinking water made by the water venders in Weifang

Objective To investigate the hygiene quality of direct drinking water made by the water venders in a certain city of eastern area. Methods Water samples from water vending machines were collected and tested for microbial contamination in resident, school and office in Kuiwen, Weicheng, Gaoxin, Fangzi and Hanting District in Weifang, Shandong province during 2015-2016. Results Of the 120 samples, the total qualification rate was 58.3%. The qualification rates of samples from resident, school and office were77.5%, 60.0% and 37.5%, respectively. The difference was statistically significant(P0.05). The qualified rates of standard plate-count bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E coli and thermotoletant coliform bacteria in direct drinking water made by water venders were 60.0%, 92.5%, 96.7% and 100.0%, respectively.Conclusion The hygiene quality of the direct drinking water made by the water venders was not good. The safety of direct drinking water by water venders should be listed into enhanced supervision.
