Five phenolic constituents from roots of Elsholtzia bodinieri

Objective To study the constituents from the roots of Elsholtzia bodinieri. MethodsThe compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel column chromatography and TLC, and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods and physicochemical properties. ResultsFive phenolic constituents were isolated from the ehtanol extract of E. bodinieri roots and were identified as 3-hydroxy-4′, 5-dimethoxybibenzyl-4-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (Ⅰ), gallic acid (Ⅱ), (+)-catechin (Ⅲ), vanillin (Ⅳ), kaempferol (Ⅴ), respectively. ConclusionCompound Ⅰ is a new compound named as bodinieriside C.
