COMPARATIVE STUDY ON PERFORMANCE OF DISPLACEMENT RESPONSE CONTROL BASED MTMD FOR STRUCTURES UNDER VARIOUS EXCITATIONS

Based on the structural displacement response control,the displacement transfer function is formulated for the structure with an MTMD under four types of excitations.The criterion for assessing the optimum parameters of MTMD may then be defined as the minimization of minimum values of maximum displacement dynamic magnification factors of the structure with MTMD and the assessment criterion of the MTMD effectiveness is defined as the normalized value of the above criterion,with respect to the uncontrolled maximum displacement dynamic magnification factor.The numerical results indicate that MTMD under four types of excitations practically possesses nearly the same optimum average damping ratio,robustness,and effectiveness.However,the four types of excitations make a great difference in the optimum tuning frequency ratio of MTMD.
