NONLINEAR TRANSIENT DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF FREE-FREE RING-STIFFENED CYLINDRICAL SHELL SUBJECTED TO UNDERWATER EXPLOSION SHOCK WAVE

Numerical investigation were carried out on free-free ring-stiffened cylindrical shell subjected to underwater explosion shock wave using MSC.DYIRAN. General coupling was used to simulate the fluid-shell interaction. Strain rate effect ,geometric nonlinearity and initial geometric imperfection were considered. Numerical result agrees well with that of experimet .The equivalent plastic strain in middle plane of the nearest element,the mid element and the remote element both on rib and mid-rib were compared. The primary damage mechanisms of these elements were analyzed. The comparison between permanent deformations considering strain rate effect or not was presented.
