A method to measure the location and degree of structural damage based on acceleration frequency response function is presented. The method can refine dynamic model's stiffness matrix, mass matrix and damping matrix by comparing the acceleration frequency response functions extracted from test data with those calculated from analytical mode1.The analytical model is successively updated until its acceleration frequency response functions can be enough close to those measured. Then, the location and degree of structural damage can be found through the deviation. The method has definite physical meaning, avoids modal analysis, and can be fused in on-line monitor system. One numerical example checks the method's validity and precision.
