Vibration source analysis and vibration reduction for a vertical microstructure turbulence profiler

A vertical microstructure turbulence profiler simply referred to as a vertical profiler is the most effective measurement platform to obtain shear flow in ocean and is very important for marine scientific research.Here,the developments of the vertical profiler at home and abroad was briefly introduced.According to the principle of the vertical profiler and the results of sea tests,the factors affecting the profiler measurement accuracy were summarized.Then,the sources of vibration in a vertical profiler and its vibration reduction methods were focused.Based on the analysis for the sources of vibration in the vertical profiler,a new designing scheme of the vertical profiler was proposed,i.e.,a shear probe was equipped around the center of the profiler's oscillation to reduce the effect of the profiler vibration on its measurement accuracy.The results of the theoretical analysis and the computational fluid dynamics simulation indicated that the proposed shear probe loaded method can effectively reduce the influence of the profiler vibration on its measurement accuracy.
