A Research on Self-concept and Mental Health of the Deaf Students

WANG Ling-feng (Faculty of Education and Technology,Huzhou Teachers Colege,Huzhou,313000)  
To examine the deaf students’ mental health,their self-concept and the self-concept effect on mental health,a sample of 156 deaf students were tested by using the Mental Health Diagnosis Test(MHT)and the Piers-Harris Children’s Self-concept Scale.Results indicated that grade difference was not significant in the total score and factor scores of self-concept scale except and were more gregarious than boys.Results also revealed that the number of mental disorders of the deaf students laccounted for 6.9% and that the most obvious mental disorders were fear and anxiety to people.Furthermore,results showed that the behavior and anxiety factor scores and the total score of self-concept scale conld forecast mental health of the deaf students remarkably.
