WANG Yu FAN Yimin Department of Neurosurgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan 030001,China
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of prox-1 and PCNA in glioma and to analyze the relationship between the expression and malignant degree. Methods The immunohistochemical S-P method was used to detect the expression of Prox-1 and PCNA in 65 cases of glioma and 13 cases of normal cerebral tissue as control group. The relationship of Prox-1 expres-sion with PCNA expression was analyzed. Results The expression of both Prox-1 and PCNA increased as the malignant grade in-creased, and the Prox-1 expression was positively related to that of PCNA.Conclusion Prox-1 is over-expressed in malignant glioma ,especially in glioblastoma tissue , which means that it may be related to the progression and invasion of the tumor and may be regarded as a useful marker for judging the malignant phenotype of glioma.
