Analysis the Correlation between the β-carotene and LDL in serum of stroke patients

Objective To explore the role of β carotene in prevention the cerebrovascular disease. Methods The contents of β carotene and low density lipoproteins (LDL),cholesterol,triglycride in serum in 14 cases of cerebral infarction and normal controls were analysed and a correlation analysis had also been done. Results The content of β carotene were lower in patients than that in the normal controls,and the content of LDL were higher than that in normal controls. There were significant negtive correlation between the β carotene and LDL in patients (r=-0.6471,P=0.01240.050). Conclusion The conclusion is that the β carotene may play a certain role in reducing the risk of cerebrovascular disease.
