On the Importance of the Data in the Medical Records from the Point of View of the Utilization of them

Objective To explain the importance of medical record management in the hospital. Methods To analyze the medical records from 1st November in 2004 to 31st October in 2005 Results We summaries the five functions of medical records, including: ① offering valuable original data for medical insurance organization and judicial department. ② offering valuable medical information for patients without final diagnosis or patients who wanted to transfer to another hospital. ③ being benefit to analyzing the treatment of each disease and improving the quality of treatment, ④ offering the dependable and scientific data for teaching and research. ⑤ Based on the medical records, the managers could forecast the hospital's future and constitute the hospital's aim. Conclusions The data in medical records is the objective records of patients. It also offers much worthy original data for medical insurance organization, judicial department, medical research and teaching. It is benefit to the development of a hospital.
