A pot experiment was performed to investigate physiological responses of Festuca arundinacea L.on turf medium mixed with waste crumb rubber to NaCl stress. The results showed that addition of waste crumb rubber into turf medium increased underground biomass and chlorophyll content of F.arundinacea.The aboveground and underground biomass of F.arundinacea was increased by waste crumb rubber when NaCl concentration was higher than 0.4%.No significant differences in peroxidase(POD) were found by addition of waste crumb rubber into turf medium. When NaCl concentration was more than 0.4%,POD activity in crumb rubber treatments was higher than that of controls. However, superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity was significantly increased at all NaCl concentrations with addition of crumb rubber into turf medium.Especially at 0.2% NaCl concentration,SOD activity was increased by 161.66% compared with control. In addition, treatments with crumb rubber resulted in the marked alleviation in the increases of the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) and relative electrical conductance in leaves under NaCl stress compared with control.Proline content wasn't affected by crumb rubber obviously. The result suggested that turf medium mixed with crumb rubber may alleviate the damage caused by salt in F.arundinacea, thus improved the resistance of F.arundinacea to salt stress.
