Influence of Drying Target Moisture on Yields and Nutritional Value of Alfalfa Hay

The hay yields,leaf loss and nutritional value of alfalfa in different moisture were studied to discuss the correlation between these indexes and drying target moisture and to provide the theory basis for obtaining high yield and good quality of alfalfa hay.The results showed that the drying target moisture had agreat effect on yields and nutritional value of alfalfa hay.Without considering mildew,the yields and nutritional value of alfalfa hay were proportional to the drying target moisture.The hay yields,CP yields,CP content and carotene content of alfalfa hay with the drying target moisture of 29.34% were higher by 41.55%,47.10%,21.87%and 203.97%than that with the drying target moisture of 14.82%,and the NDF content,ADF content and the leaf loss rate of alfalfa hay were lower by 19.65%,15.68% and 112.85%than that with the drying target moisture of 14.82%.
