REACTIVE POWER PLANNING BASED ON GENETIC ALGORITHM

In this paper, a modified Genetic Algorithm(GA)is applied to optimization of reactive power planning of power system. This algorithm improves the method of coding, size of population and operators; uses expert knowledge to aid searching feasible solution; and presents self adaptive adjusting of penalty factor. The proposed algorithm is applied to the IEEE 30 bus system and a practical system. The numerical results show the advantages of this approach over conventiona GA.
