FICTITIOUS FAULT PORT METHOD AND ITS APPLICATION TO FAULT CALCULATION IN POWER SYSTEMS

In this paper, the concept and the creation method of fictitious fault ports are proposed and the simulation method of faults in power systems is given. On the basis of this, by taking fictitious fault ports as boundaries, the faulted power system is divided into a symmetrical network without the faults and unsymmetrical networks employed to simulate the faults. Based on the basic theory of liner circuit and the phase-sequence parameter transformation technique, a new method to calculate power system faults in the sequence domain is presented. The method of this paper has the following characte-ristics: 1)any simple or complex fault can be modeled accurately, including metallic short circuit faults and open conductor faults; 2)the faults are simulated without removing the faulted lines from the faulted power system into the unsymmetrical networks and therefor the simulation of the faults on zero-sequence mutual coupled lines becomes very simple; 3)the faults are calculated without modifying the Zbus or Ybus of each original sequence networks; 4) the complex connections between sequence networks are avoided in the fault calculation; 5)it is precise and effective.
