IMPROVED COURNOT MODEL OF GENERATION UNIT OUTPUT OF GENERATION COMPANIES UNDER INCOMPLETE INFORMATION IN ELECTRICITY MARKET

Assuming each generation company knows the market inverse demand function but does not know his rivals?operation costs, a Cournot model in which each generation company optimizes its generation unit output is presented in this paper in order to obtain the maximal benefit in oligopoly electricity market. If generation company抯 payoff function is concave and needs to be maximized, we can obtain the expected Cournot equilibrium state with technical constraints using the method of searching the Kuhn-Tucker points and solve the equation group of reaction functions of generation units. Several examples have been used to demonstrate the models. The test results show the proposed methodology is a useful tool for generation companies to optimize their resource and make their decision.
