OPTIMAL MATCHING INJECTED FLOW FOR OPTIMAL SIZING OF CAPACITOR

In order to develop a general, canonical and analytical algorithm to optimize VAR,a novel concept of optimal matching injected flow is introduced in this paper and used to solve optimal sizing of capacitor. This concept is developed on the basis of loop-analysis and superimpose theorem of basic circuit theory. It can be adopted both in transmission system and distribution system, and also can be used to optimize Voltage/VAR associated with capacitors and generators at the same time. Based on the optimal matching injected flow, a polynomial algorithm for optimal capacitor sizing is proposed in this paper. This novel method can efficiently deal with both economic objective and secure objective in one calculation process. Since only several times of calculation of power flow and optimal matching injected flow are needed in the whole process, it is very efficient and can be used in real-time operating for large-scale system. Moreover, this algorithm can also be used in solving the problem of optimal capacitors placement.
