Model Analysis of Boiler System and Its Nonlinear Control

WANG Jun, LI Dong-hai, XUE Ya-li (Institute of Simulation and Control for Thermal Power Engineering,Tsinghua University, Haidian District, Beijing 100084, China)  
Comprehensive analysis of the nonlinear boiler model, such us the controllability, observability, nonlinearity and coupling, were developed from the controller design point of view. Nonlinear control strategy was employed into this model to solve the optimizing control over full operating range, the relative gain array and the relative nonlinear measure were used to analyze the coupling and nonlinearity at various operating points, respectively. The model promises to be quite useful as a benchmark problem in the evaluation of various control algorithms. Combined with a linear controller, a method of nonlinear decoupling by using feedback linearization approach was introduced into the controller design for boiler system. Robust stability of this nonlinear control system was analyzed. Simulation results show that the designed system has superior precision in set point tracking, good ability of anti-disturbance and good robustness.
