Modeling and Simulation of High Speed Long Primary Double-sided Linear Induction Motor

LU Jun-yong, MA Wei-ming, XU Jin (Institute of Power Electronic Technology, Naval University of Engineering, Wuhan 430033, Hubei Province, China)
Based on the principle and the launch curve of high speed long primary double-sided linear induction motor (DSLIM), the simulation model of the motor is constructed by using the mover’s field oriented control (FOC) method. The dynamic performance of the motor are simulated, and the variation patterns of voltage, current, ratio of voltage to frequency, power factor, power efficiency and energy efficiency with thrust and load mass are presented, which are important to the design of pulse power supply and drive system . Simulation result shows it is feasible to launch a heavy body by this type of linear motor. Simulation results give a very good agreement with the results based on ANSOFT. It verifies the validity of the model and provides a new way for the study and implementation of control strategy of this kind of machine.
