Principle and Implementation of the Single Winding Bearingless Permanent Magnetic Slice Motor

The principle and structure design of a new type of bearingless permanent magnetic(PM) slice motor based on single winding were investigated.The conventional double windings structure of stator that includes motor windings and levitation windings was abnegated.This motor with only one winding system produces toque and levitation forces.A linear mathematical model of the suspension force was deduced, and corresponding control strategy and power system of the single winding bearingless PM slice motor were discussed.A prototype motor was constructed, and experiments with loading and without loading were executed.Experimental result shows that the rotor of single winding bearingless PM slice motor is suspended in 5 freedom dimensions including radial direction, axial direction, torsional direction and so on.
