Study on Siting and Sizing of Distributed Wind Generation

A planning scheme based on the chance constrained programming for siting and sizing of distributed wind generation (DWG) in the existing distribution networks is proposed. The planning objective is to maximize the benefit of an independent power producer (IPP) connected with the DWG, and the probabilistic power flow method is applied to judge whether the planning scheme satisfies the constraints of both the node voltage operation range and the transmission capacities of branches. An artificial intelligent algorithm namely the plant growth simulation algorithm (PGSA), is employed to solve the optimal planning of DWG. The case studies have been carried out on a 33-node distribution network, and the results show that the proposed optimal planning model of DWG is rational, and the PGSA is effective to solve the large-scale nonlinear integer programming optimization problem.
