Numerical Simulation and Analysis of Furnace Implosion

Numerical investigation was taken on a mathematical model of the whole boiler system. Implosions under different situations, such as different constructions, loads and volume, were simulated. Results show that implosion pressure is lower in the boiler with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) reactor. This is because of the rising of flue gas resistance and induced draft (ID) fan head. The changed value approximates the resistance of SCR reactor. Also, because of ID fan head and furnace combustion, implosion strength increases with boiler load and volume. From the simulation results, it is concluded that changing of furnace combustion is the main cause of implosion, and ID fan head during mal-operation is also an important one. The numerical and analytical results are valuable for both application and theoretical study.
