The Application of Wavelet Transform to Power System Fault Signal Analysis

Wavelet transform and its applied characteristics are introduced.The possibility of its application to power system fault signal analysis is discussed in five aspects:filtering,noise elimination,fault recorder data compression,fault detection and fault location based on travelling waves.An example of fault location based on travelling wave by using “Singularity detection of wavelet trausform” is given.The simulation result shows that the wavelet transform is effective.
