Development trend of bag filter in coal-fired power plants and influencing factors on the service life

The theoretical efficiency of electrostatic precipitators (ESP) can be above 99.5%, the practical dust removing efficiency, influenced by the physico-chemical characteristics of mist and dust, could be drop significantly. Generally the bag filter can be hardly influenced by such factors, and the dust removing efficiency always reaches as high as generally above 99.95%. The efficiency is stable and it can capture the tiny dust and the heavy metal of PM10 and below. If the mass concentration of mist and dust emission is lower than 50 mg/m3, the investment and operating cost of ESPs are much higher than those of bag filter. Considering the standard emission and technical economy comparison, it is inevitable to utilize the bag filters. In order to improve the reliability and extend the service life of bag filters, reasonable and scientific measures were utilized in design, commissioning and operation. It is completely feasible to reduce the emission concentration to be less than 30 mg/m3 and to improve the service life to be more than 30 000 h.
