Design of Anti-roll Tanks and Study of Sloshing Phenomenon by Meshes Method

The meshless particle method is used in the study of fluid sloshing process and the design of anti-roll tanks and for an offshore supply vessel(OSV).The fluid movement between anti-roll tanks lags ship rolling movement. The tanks generate maximum counter-moment against ship rolling and give optimal anti-rolling effect at the phase lag of 90°.Out of that state the effect will be weak and even worse,may magnify ship's rolling.The particle method is used to simulate the phase lag and sloshing.The results of simulation coincide with those from experimental tests,which proves that the particle method can be used to obtain the phase lag of fluid sloshing behind ship rolling, hence,to guide the design of anti-roll tanks for offshore supply vessels.
