Effects of Different Dietary Manganese Sources on Growth Performance and Heart Manganese Concentration in Broilers

The experiment was conducted using a total of 500 one-day-age Arbor Acres male broilers to study the effects of supplemental manganese(Mn) sourse and levels on growth performance and heart manganese concentration in broilers.Mn-unsupplemented corn-soybean meal basal diets were fed to enhance the sensitivity to manganese at 1 to 7 days age.The broilers were randomly allotted by body weight to one of nine treatments in a completely randomized design involving a 4×3 factorial arrangement of treatments at 8 days,and fed Mn-unsupplemented basal diets(Control) or basal diets supplemented with 100 or 200 mg/kg Mn as compounds of different Mn for a duration of 14 days.The results showed that there were no differences in growth performance among Mn sources,levels or their interactions.Heart manganese concentration was affected by either Mn source or Mn level(P0.09) .The relative bio-availabilities of Mn AAB were much higher than that of inorganic manganese.
