Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms of VLDLR Gene and the Correlation with Egg Quality in Laying Duck

Very low density lipoprotein receptor(VLDLR) gene plays a vital role in the deposition of yolk precusor.Different genotypes of VLDLR gene have different effects on poultry egg quality. In this paper, 139 Guoshao No. Ⅰfemale ducks were randomly selected to study the SNPs in the section of exon 12-exon 13 in VLDLR gene by the first-generation sequencing, and analyzed the linkage disquilibrium of the SNPs and the correlation between different genotypes and egg qualities. Four SNPs were detected in this section, S1(A7120G) located in exon 12 which did not change the amino acid, S2(A7261G) located in intron 12, S3(C7325T) and S4(A7337G) located in exon 13 which led the mutation of Thr and Asn from Met and Asp respectively. S1, S2 and S4 were strong linkage disequilibrium. These4 sites composed 3 haplotypes and 3 diplotypes. No significant correlation between single site genetypes or diplotypes and yolk ratio, egg weight, yolk weight, egg shell weight or yolk color were detected. The results indicated that there were no statistically significant SNP markers in the section of exon 12-exon 13 in VLDLR gene.
