Optimal Design of Structural Parameters of Hot Extrusion Dies Based on the Thermal-mechanical Coupling

Using the thermal-mechanical coupling fundamental equations based on finite strain theory, a three-dimensional thermal-mechanical coupling calculation was carried out to the aluminum square profile hot extrusion porthole compound die. It is found that there exists an obvious stress concentration at the location where the bridge crack takes place. In order to improve the distribution of stresses in the die, the optimal design on the main structural parameters was completed. The optimal values, which make the maximum stress be weakened by 32.2%, was achieved after 21 iterations, the service life of the die is therefore prolonged.
