Numerical Simulation of Particles Flow on the Vibrating Screen Plate Using a 3D Discrete Element Method

Based on the dry contact model of soft-ball,the screening process of particles flow on the vibrating plate was simulated using a 3D discrete element method(DEM).The motion state and change of screening efficiency of coal particles flow were analyzed.The effect of particle size distribution on screening efficiency was discussed.The results show that each size particles have similar change law and average amplitude of velocity.The screening efficiency of easy-screening particles is high with narrow variation range and has a little effect on whole screening efficiency.The screening efficiency of hard-screening particles is low with large varied amplitude and has a great effect on the whole screening efficiency.Along the screening plate the screening efficiency is the lowest on feed end,the highest on discharge end and higher on the middle part of the plate.The screening efficiency decreases gradually with the increasing of the contents of hard-screening or obstructive particles.When the contents of them are 25% and 10% respectively,the decrement of screening efficiency will become slower under stable state.
