Advances in Ramie Cultivation and Tillage

CHEN Ji-kang;XIONG He-ping;Institute of Bast Fiber Crops,Chinese Academy of Agricultral Sciences;  
Cultivation and tillage of ramie is still potentially one of the weakest links in the research. It is important to summary progresses and explore the shortages of the field,which will be benefit for improving studies and increasing crop yield. A review of ramie cultivation techniques,physiological and ecological characteristics and farming system was conducted to investigate key points in the future researches. Advances and problems of ramie cultivation and tillage were summarized,including ramie reproduction,high yield management,stress-resistance cultivation,ecological restoration,regulation of stress responses,and renovation of farming system. As for several current problems,such as outdated researching methods,unsystematic studies,out of the line with new requirements and international hot issue,this review presented corresponding advice for future studies.
